Condensate drain

Drainage path that removes water formed during cooling operation.

Why condensate drains matter

Whenever cooling equipment removes moisture from air, that water has to leave the system safely. The condensate drain must fall correctly, remain cleanable, and discharge at a suitable location. If that simple logic fails, the result is often ceiling staining, mold, damaged finishes, or repeated service calls.

Common site failures

  • Drain lines installed flat or with hidden sags.
  • No realistic access for cleaning blockages.
  • Discharge points that wet facades, terraces, or public walkways.
  • Pipe insulation defects that create sweating even when the drain itself is intact.

Construction control point

Condensate drains should be inspected before close-up and then proven again during commissioning under sustained operation, not only at the moment of first startup.
