Formwork

Temporary mould and support system that holds wet concrete in the required shape until it can carry itself.

Why formwork matters

Formwork is not just temporary carpentry. It controls slab levels, column plumbness, beam depth, wall alignment, concrete finish, and safety during placement.

Typical failure pattern

Poor bracing or weak support lets formwork move during the pour. The result can be bulged walls, out-of-plumb columns, uneven slabs, honeycombing, or geometry that later fights facade and finishes.

What to inspect

  • Line, level, plumbness, and dimensions before reinforcement closeout.
  • Bracing, props, access, pour rate, and safe working platforms.
  • Openings, blockouts, embedded items, and sleeve positions before concrete arrives.
