Inspection and test plan
A quality control plan that lists inspections, tests, acceptance criteria, hold points and required records for a work package.
What an inspection and test plan is
An inspection and test plan, often called an ITP, is a structured quality document for a work package. It lists the required checks, test methods, acceptance criteria, responsibility, hold points and records.
Why it is useful
A checklist says what to check. An ITP also says when, by whom, against what criteria and what evidence must be kept. That makes it stronger for high-risk work such as concrete, waterproofing, MEP rough-in, roof drainage and commissioning.
Practical ITP fields
- Work step or activity.
- Inspection or test required.
- Acceptance criteria or reference.
- Responsible party and witness requirement.
- Hold point or witness point.
- Record, photo or certificate required.
